A cool kickoff for Science Club at St. John's

Students at St. John the Baptist Catholic School in Vermillion experiment with liquid nitrogen and the science of cryogenics alongside 3M "Wizard" chemist Mike Strommen, left. The experiment was part of the new after-school Science Club kickoff event introduced by teacher Teresa Huneke, right. The free nine-week program will introduce students at the pre-kindergarten through 5th grade school to various disciplines of scientific study, including air & flight, renewable energy, geology and rocketry. Science Club meetings are organized by volunteer 3M Wizards, a geologist and an instructor from the Minnesota Starbase Center.

3M chemist Mike Strommen graphically demonstrates to students just how cold liquid nitrogen really is during the Science Club kickoff event at St. John's Catholic School in Vermillion.
