St. John the Baptist Catholic School in Vermillion congratulates three faculty members who completed graduate programs this year. Mrs. Teresa Huneke, our Kindgergarten teacher, graduated in May with a Master of Arts in Religious Education (MARE) degree from the University of St. Thomas-Murray Institute in St. Paul. Sr. Navya, our 4th grade teacher, and Mrs. Laurie Kirstoff, our 1st grade teacher, graduated last December with Master of Arts degrees in Reading Certificate Program, also from the University of St. Thomas-Murray Institute. All St. John's School teachers have earned Master's degrees. And some have multiple advanced degrees.
The Murray Institute is a donor-funded collaboration between the University of St. Thomas School of Education, the St. Paul Seminary School of Divinity and the Archdiocese of St. Paul & Minneapolis. Since 1993, the institute has enabled 600 teachers and principals in elementary and secondary schools to receive St. Thomas graduate degrees free of tuition.
